West Rocks had another great line up of 4 unsigned bands from the UK! Ray Dar Vees (London,UK), Foreign Office (London, UK), The Instamatics (London, UK) & Bleached Wail (Sheffield, UK). And regular WEST ROCKS resident DJ’s included Tara Rocks, Ollie Russian, Richard Biedul and we introduced QT – James "Q" Quilty & Callum "T" Turner – from Model’s 1 - yes we had models that have a talent other than being beautiful! Callum was testing the decks early so everyone came to get a visual!

Saturday 21 March 2009 - SxSW Day 6
Fin (uk) at wave bar-played an early day show in the scorching heat
they did a good show-cage the elephant cancelled their show they had
set to play at wave that day
Parachute (usa) at stubbs-the fray meets maroon 5-did the nivea ad
with 'she is love' and they got another nivea ad set to come out on
the us called 'under control'
Eagle claw (austin texas) at headhunters-they opened up for scorpian
child-both local rock bands that have raised a few industry eyebrows
at sxsw
The whip (manchester) at lattitude 30 at the british embassy party-the
room was full and the sxsw crew were feeling it hands in the air
stylie at lunchtime raving it up at midday as if were midnight! Great
bass player really worked the crowd.
White lies at stubbs-early evening show so not too busy-but they
opened with their 2 uk hit singles-'fairground' then 'lets grow old
together'
Pj harvey at stubbs played before indigo girls-both were really good
to watch and unbelievable sets-really impressive and everyone talking
about it!
Ladyhawke played for perez hilton and it was a chilled out performance
but great tunes as usual. Then
Beyonces little sister played at perez hilton party-loads of backing
singers -nothing to write home about though-all jazz hands kinda vibe-
then lady soverign cancelled last minute and perez hilton came up
onstage and said she was a cunt because she cancelled lasy minute!
Littl'ans-local london circuit known band debut at sxsw and play at
rio's. Their single 'is it wrong' stood out and the audience were
really into it -the lead guitarist was really good
Kayne west rocked out the fader levis party-standard
Ticketmaster house party-opposite stubbs- drew barrymoore was there-no
bands played was more of party vibe and djs and people dancing in
every room of this old abandoned house
Red bull party got shut down by the police-it was suposed to go on til
6am -golidelocks played earlier on the evening there though and it was
a good set-she played with her dj onstage and really got the crowd
going!

Friday 20 March at SXSW, Austin, Texas U.S.A
The main event on Fridayat SXSW to go to and be seen at was.... my
West Rocks SXSW day party - I put on a show at the hipster Beauty Bar
off 6th Street across 2 stages with 17 bands!!! It was a UK V's USA
battle of the bands kinda thing but with 1 Auzzie band for good
measure ;o)
JULIETTE LEWIS (USA)
Juliette Lewis showcased her brand new band at west rocks sxsw party
– Juliette and the New
Romantiques. The live show was awesome-she paraded around on stage
like she was mick jagger-and played some old and new songs.

YOUR VEGAS (UK)
Originally from Leeds this band moved to NYC and ended up getting a
great mgmt deal and recently been on tour with Duran Duran! This band
have hits coming out their ears – literally. A great live epic band

have toured with the likes of Brides Of
Destruction (Motley Crue), Alice Cooper & New York Dolls. ‘Hearts A

did a great job! Most hard working unsigned band i know!

GOLDEN ANIMALS (USA)
Golden Animals mine that particular epoch of mild psych and blues rock--
especially the middle part, when 60s idealism gave way to the
dope-daze haze of the 70s Pitchfork
Played the WEST ROCKS SXSW - Indoor stage and ran over their set and
the sound got cut but they still carried on as they were so engrossed
in their set! Gonna play the greenman fesi in uk this summer
